Tax agent representation
Liability never transfers. Representation does not move responsibility off the taxable person, and any firm that says otherwise is selling something. What it moves is the work, and the judgement calls under time pressure.
- Stays with you
- Liability
- Moves to us
- The correspondence
- Requires
- Authorisation
Representation does not transfer it.
Filings, queries, deadlines, audit replies.
Granted through EmaraTax before anything can be done.
How it runs
- Scope is agreed in writingWhich taxes, which periods, which decisions we make and which come back to you.
- Authorisation is set up on EmaraTaxSo filings and correspondence route correctly rather than sitting in an inbox nobody watches.
- Deadlines move onto our calendarEvery period end, every due date, every response window. Missed deadlines are almost always calendar failures, not technical ones.
- Correspondence is handled and reportedYou see what was asked and what we said, without having to draft it.
What we ask you for
- Trade licence and TRN
- EmaraTax account access
- A named contact who can approve positions
- Any open FTA correspondence
What we see go wrong
- Assuming appointing a representative ends your responsibility. It does not.
- Leaving EmaraTax notifications going to an email nobody reads.
- Granting authorisation without agreeing which decisions need your sign-off.
Questions we get asked
Does a tax agent take on my VAT liability?
No. The taxable person remains liable for the tax and for the accuracy of the returns. Representation moves the work and the correspondence, not the liability.
What can a representative do on EmaraTax?
Once authorised, submit returns, respond to FTA queries, file disclosures and refund claims, and handle audit correspondence within the agreed scope.
Can I keep filing myself and get help only for audits?
Yes. Scope is agreed up front, and audit-only or review-only arrangements are common.
General information about UAE VAT, current at 10 August 2026. It is not tax advice and does not create a client relationship — see our disclaimer. Confirm your own position with the FTA, or with us, before acting.
Send the return. We will tell you where it stands.
No charge for the first look. If nothing needs doing we will say so, and if something does you will know what it costs before you decide.
